The Premier League title race between Arsenal and Manchester City has gone down to the final game week. After a massive win against Tottenham Hotspur last evening, Man City are on the top of the table with 88 points. Arsenal are now second with 86 points and a difference of just one goal. The Gunners hoped their rivals would drop points against their North London rivals, however, that did not happen.

The night before the game, a group of Arsenal supporters lit fireworks outside the hotel they thought Manchester City’s squad were staying in. However, the players were at Manchester itself that night and were leaving for London on Tuesday morning. The Arsenal fans thought they would give the City players a bad night’s sleep, however, they did not succeed.

What went down in the Premier League match between Tottenham and Manchester City?

Before the game, there were different opinions from the fans about whether Tottenham should win the game for themselves or let City take the win to prevent their North London rivals from winning the league. However, the Tottenham manager, Ange Postecoglou believed that the fans would want the Lilywhites to win.

In the pre-match conference, Postecoglou said,

“You think the majority of our fans are not going to want us to win? I don’t see it that way.”

The Tottenham manager further explained,

“We’ve got a game of football to win and that’s what we’ll try to do. Man City haven’t won it yet and if you think they have, then it becomes an issue because we’re rolling out a red carpet for them and I’m not going to do that. I’m not just going to sit there and watch them win. That doesn’t sit comfortably with me.”

However, the Lilywhites lost 2-0 to City with Erling Haaland scoring both goals. During the game, Rodrigo Bentancur was seen furious after being substituted in the second half. Moreover, Kevin De Bruyne and Ederson had to be substituted due to injury struggles. Postecoglou’s side missed several chances in the game including a 1v1 between Heung-Min Son and Stefan Ortega. However, they did not manage to score. As a result, the last game week will be the decider of the Premier League winner.
