Arsenal were knocked out by Brighton in the third round of the Carabao Cup. They lost the game by the score line of 3-1. The Gunners played gave chances to many fringe players. It was necessary because the important players had played almost all the games in the Premier League and Europa League. Hence, playing them in Carabao Cup would have also increased the risk of injury before their World Cup.

The gamble by the Arsenal manager started well as Eddie Nketiah scored the opening goal. However, the Gunners backup keeper Karl Hein made a big mistake and gave Brighton a penalty. Former Gunners forward Danny Welbeck scored the equalizer. Since that goal, Brighton started dominating the game Hence, in the second half goals by Kaoru Mitoma and Tariq Lamptey won the game for Brighton. Hence, Arsenal’s involvement in the Carabao Cup ended.

Former Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal also attended the game at Emirates. However, he also got to see his Arsenal teammate Danny Welbeck score for Brighton. Although, there are also chances that Monreal might start his coaching career with the Gunners. The reason is already Jack Wilshere is coaching the U-18 team. Hence, another former Arsenal player involved with the coaching will certainly not be a surprise.

Another reason is recently the owners of the club have also tried to involve the former popular players in some capacity with the club. The left-back has played over 250 games for the Gunners.
