Arsenal have confirmed their first signing of the January transfer window. They have signed Leandro Trossard from Brighton for a total fee of 26 million including the add-ons.
It also looks like the Belgian international is registered in time for the game against Manchester United. The signing of Trossard also adds depth to the squad.
ARSENAL CONFIRM THEIR FIRST JANUARY TRANSFER SIGNING
Arsenal have just confirmed the signing of Leandro Trossard from Brighton. Hence, this is also their first signing in the January transfer window. This also ends their search for the winger signing. Hence, the fans can now rest easy after missing out on Mykhaylo Mudryk. This move also brings relief to the mind of Trossard and his agent. It is because of Trossard’s bad relationship with Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi. Mikel Arteta and sporting director Edu Gaspar have also expressed their happiness after sealing the deal.
The Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta further said,
“It is good work from everyone at the club to complete the signing of Leandro. He is a versatile player with high technical ability, intelligence and a great deal of experience in the Premier League and at international level.”
“Leandro strengthens our squad as we head into the second part of the season and we’re all looking forward to working with him.”
Edu Gaspar has also expressed his happiness. He further said,
“We’re delighted to have completed the signing of Leandro Trossard. The club has a clear plan and strategy for our direction, and it’s been a great team effort in bringing Leandro to the club.“
MIKEL ARTETA WILL ALSO HAVE AN EYE ON THE CRUCIAL MATCH AGAINST MANCHESTER UNITED
According to reports, Arsenal are also hoping to sign two more players by the end of the January transfer window. Hence, the fans are going to get more excited in the coming days of the window. Although, one eye will also be on the crucial clash against Manchester United on Sunday. They need to win against the Red Devils to keep their eight-point lead at the top over second-placed Manchester City. Manchester City came from 2-0 down to win 4-2 against Tottenham on Thursday late night.
City manager Pep Guardiola has also said that they have the experience over Arsenal to win the Premier League. Hence, it looks like the City manager has given an open title challenge to the Gunners. A number of seasons ago, Liverpool also were leading over City at the table. However, unbeaten form in the second half of the season helped City retain the Premier League title. However, Pep has said that his players have to make sure that they avoid playing as they played in the first half against Tottenham.
Arsenal will however hope that Manchester City loses once again. They will also hope to win their remaining games of the second half of the season to maintain or increase the gap at the top of the table. The club owners have also reportedly made it clear that they are trying hard to sign the top January transfer targets for Mikel Arteta.
