Arsenal are believed to plotting a move to re-sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Liverpool. Having previously sold the midfielder back in 2017.

Arsenal signed Oxlade-Chamberlain when he was a teenager at Southampton. Hoping he’d be a huge Emirates hit. But while the England international fared well. He never quite lived up to expectations in north London

The English midfielder represented the Gunners between 2011 and 2017 where he won three FA Cups. Before making the move to Liverpool for £35m. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was a regular member of Liverpool’s starting line-up during his debut season with the club.

But he has since endured a stop-start spell due to injury. Having notably been out for over a year after suffering significant knee damage in April 2018.

The report suggests that Oxlade-Chamberlain is frustrated by his lack of game time at present. Having made just two league appearances so far this season. Turning out against Norwich City and Leeds United. While he made just 17 appearances in all competitions last term.  After another long-term knee injury ruled him out for over four months.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain set for New challange?

While he is once again fit and available. The 28-year-old has slipped down the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp due to such extended lay-off’s. And is perhaps in need of a ‘fresh challenge’.

While he has just under two years remaining on his existing deal. The Englishman is seemingly keen to move on. And reportedly keen to rejuvenate his career. With Liverpool not set to stand in his way owing to the current strength of their central midfield options.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is eyeing up a reunion with his former teammate and captain Mikel Arteta. With the Gunners believed to be considering an initial six-month loan in January. With the option to potentially make the deal permanent at the end of the season. Although he is currently on the fringes on Merseyside. The club are looking for a ‘reasonable fee’ in order to let him leave.

Arsenal are also scouting Wolves star Ruben Neves and Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma. Bissouma is a target for a host of Premier League teams. And is expected to make a move to one of Europe’s top clubs in the near future. Arsenal are also monitoring the contract situation of Rahmeen Sterling.
