Arsenal interested in signing Atletico Mineiro teenager Savinho

According to Fabrizio Romano and several other reports, Arsenal are linked with a move for the Brazilian teenager Savinho. The 2004 born currently plays for Atletico Mineiro and has also attracted interest from the Red Bull clubs. Arsenal have not made a signing for their first team in January yet and are closing in on the deadline.

The Gunners want to challenge for a place in the top four but a recent dip in the form must have let them look for new ideas. Therefore, a new signing has been on the cards but there is no luck yet for the Gunners. Arsenal are also close to signing Arthur but there is still no concrete offer to be accepted by clubs.

The 17-year-old has made 21 appearances for his club but has not scored or assisted any goals. He debuted for his club when he was 16 that was in September 2020. He can play more than one role as a forward and has many years ahead of him to learn and grow. Moreover, Mineiro already sees him as a highly rated player with a £60 million release clause.

Savinho won the South American U-15 Championship with Brazil U-15 and netted four times throughout the tournament. Arsenal have already identified his qualities and are willing to sign the Brazilian soon. However, they may face little competition from the Red Bull clubs to sign the teenager.

Why Arsenal wants to sign Savinho?

Arsenal signed Gabriel Martinelli in a similar fashion to that of Savinho. Since then, Martinelli has been instrumental for the Gunners this season. Moreover, the technical director of Arsenal also has his homeland in Brazil which is why he may be inclined towards signing Brazilian talents.

The youngster has great ball control and a frightening pace to trouble the opposition defenders. He can play any role in the attacking lineup and deliver the same performances with his skill. His intelligent movement in the final third also makes him a good prospect for other clubs to look at.

However, it might be tough for Savinho to get guaranteed starts at Arsenal. The Gunners already have a good amount of talent in their squad. Savinho can play in the u-23 category for Arsenal and develop as a player with regular game time. He can challenge for the first team after a few years, once he gets settled in at the club.

Arsenal will resort to anything that will make them stronger in order to challenge for a spot in the top four. These small signings might help them in the future as the future of the market is unpredictable. Savinho can either impress his club in just a few starts or he can make them regret their decision. All of that depends on how the club understands his position and how Savinho adapts to a new environment.
