According to The Mirror, Arsenal have added Marcus Rashford to their transfer targets this summer. The 24-year-old forward has struggled massively for Manchester United this season. Rashford had started considering his future with his boyhood club after not getting the nod to start in the Manchester Derby. Summer arrivals of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho have pushed him down on the pecking order.

Marcus Rashford was one of the best youngsters in the leagues, scoring on each and every debut he made. He had his first 20 goals season in 2019/20 and looked like there was no stopping him the next year too. However, the England international went through surgery at the start of this season and had a decent comeback from surgery.

Nevertheless, he failed to capitalize on his momentum and has only had 10 starts from United’s 29 matches in the league this season. He now fails in almost every attempt to get past a defender. That used to be a cup of his tea in the seasons before and constantly created chances. However, he has had very little to provide this season and should sort that out to stay at United.

Arsenal on the other hand are performing ridiculously well and they are the favorites to finish fourth in the league. The Gunners are ready to help Marcus Rashford with his situation by signing him in the summer. Arsenal wants to strengthen their attacking department and are looking forward to signing a few wingers and strikers.

Why is Arsenal interested in signing Marcus Rashford?

Marcus Rashford has all the qualities of a winger and a striker. Not only does he possess good pace and dribbling skills but also he has a very good passing range. He can put in a good cross from the left-hand side which can find a few heads in the box. Although he does struggle in finishing a few chances, he has improved his finishing fairly from the last two seasons.

In terms of raw talent, he is one of the world’s best youngsters and has yet to experience his peak. He has shown that he can do that at the highest level when he scored that penalty against PSG in the dying minutes. He scored again at the Parc des Princes a few years later with a nice low-grounded shot from outside of the box.

There is no denying that Rashford could be one of the best players in the world if he keeps developing. However, for that, he will need regular game time and confidence. Arsenal currently have Martinelli and Smith Rowe who can play on the left. Rashford will directly get into the starting lineup offering depth to Mikel Arteta. Moreover, Rashford will also have more freedom compared to what he has at United.

Manchester United fans will not be happy if their Manchester-born and bred player joins direct rivals. Moreover, many might question Rashford’s mentality too that he is thinking about an exit after one bad season where he expects to start even after poor performances. Arsenal have to avoid that in order to succeed in the coming years and should be looking for more mature and seasoned players.
