Arsenal legend Ian Wright has said that he was surprised by the ability of Gabriel Martinelli. The Brazilian winger has made a brilliant start to his Gunners career.
However, Ian Wright thought that it would take him time to settle with the team. Although, the winger has settled in brilliantly with his performances.
THE RISE OF GABRIEL MARTINELLI AT ARSENAL
Arsenal signed Gabriel Martinelli from the lower leagues of the Brazilian League. Hence, many fans thought that he was going to be the player for the future years. Therefore, many thought that the Gunners would loan him out for his first two years. However, Mikel Arteta refused to loan him out. A number of reports also claimed that he impressed Arteta with his determination in the training sessions.
Hence, Gabriel Martinelli got opportunities from the bench. The Brazilian winger was also impressed with his starts in the Europa League in his initial season. Hence, Mikel Arteta started putting him regularly in the starting XI. The winger over the seasons has become an important player for the Arsenal team. Hence, he has proved Ian Wright wrong with his brilliant ability.
IAN WRIGHT WAS SURPRISED BY THE AMBITION OF THE YOUNG WINGER
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has said that he was pleasantly surprised with the ability of the Brazilian winger. The Gunners legend has also said that his involvement in the World Cup is a credit to the club’s coaching staff. Ian Wright has also said that Mikel Arteta deserves praise for developing him into one of the best young players in Europe.
He further said,
“He’s one of the main reasons why Arsenal are doing what they are doing at the moment. “I know how much Klopp just loves him, I can’t see anyone who wouldn’t. There’s not a defender he’s come up against who he hasn’t just taken to the cleaners. “The way we have developed him into being able to go into the greatest footballing nation’s World Cup has to be a credit to Arsenal.”
Arsenal will now hope that Gabriel Martinelli signs a contract extension with the club. They will also hope that the Brazilian winger helps them stay at the top of the Premier League table. However, at the moment Martinelli’s full focus will be to help the Brazilian national team win the World Cup in Qatar.
