Arsenal and Chelsea Legend Emmanuel Petit urges Liverpool to bid for the Atlético Madrid star Joao Felix. He joined the Madrid-based club from Benfica in 2019 and become the third most expensive signing of that year.
The Portuguese forward has just returned from the Qatar World Cup. He had a decent performance in the tournament but unfortunately, his country was knocked-out by Morocco in the Qatar final.
Felix Struggling phase
Felix’s time at Atlético was not like a fairy tale. He has struggled in La Liga and failed to deliver what the Atlético management expected from him. It may be because of his attacking characteristics. This in itself raises a question that whether Simeone is the right manager for him. Atlético are well known for their defensive attributes but Felix is a very technical and attacking-minded player. So, he need a coach who could carve his skill and get the most from him.
In a recent interview, Simeone said;
“With João, I’m finding it difficult to get the best out of him, but that’s something I have to resolve”.
Arsenal Legend urges Liverpool to go for the La Liga forward
Chelsea and Arsenal Legend gave a hint to Liverpool that they should go for Felix and Anfield is the right destination for the Portuguese forward. He responded via Football Betting;
“Any club would be lucky to have Joao Felix. He has proved just how good he is at this World Cup and when he’s not in defensive system, he can be a real threat for any side. I would love to see him at Arsenal or Chelsea, but in truth I can see him joining Liverpool. He seems like Jurgen Klopp’s type of player and with Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota out for a while, I believe they will go for him in January.”
Felix’s agent Jorge Mendes is exploring an option for his clients and there are number of Premier League clubs including Aston Villa, Manchester United, and Chelsea whose names are linked with the player. After the departure of Sadio Mane, Darwin Nunez failed to stand on the club’s expectations. Therefore, Felix could be a wiser choice for the Reds, and he is the one who can also play in a false 9 role. However, Atlético Madrid wants a price of around €100M-€120M which is actually a bigger number for the Merseyside club.
