Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta had already revealed that it would be a busy transfer window. The gunners have been linked with some of the top talents across the world. One of the name in that list is Martin Zubimendi. Arsenal are reported to have made a bid for spanish midfielder.
Arsenal are enjoying another great season under Mikel Arteta. They are currently on second position in Premier League behind Manchester City. The title will be decided on final matchday where the gunners hope that Man City drops points. No matter what the result will be it still was a great season for Arsenal.
In recent days Arsenal were reported to be heavily linked with Martin Zubimendi. The gunners now have submitted a £43 million bid to sign him. Real Sociedad have demanded £51 million for their star midfielder. Although Arsenal have made a bid with less money than Sociedad expected they are still ahead of everyone else.
FC Barcelona and Juventus are also interested in signing Zubimendi. Deco who is sporting director at Barcelona has already met with Zubimendi’s agents. However Barca don’t seem to be landing the spanish midfielder because of the financial crisis they are having. Juventus are having similar issue and finding the price too high for spanish international. Bayern Munich are also interested in Zubimendi but the decesion will be taken after the replacement of Thomas Tuchel arrives.
Recently Zubimendi said that these are just rumours and he is not concerned. He also stated that he is very happy at Real Sociedad. Real Sociedad are currently on 7th position in La Liga. There path to achieve champions league football next season seems to have been ended.
What makes Arsenal chase spanish midfielder
Martin Zubimendi plays as a defensive midfielder and has earned a spot of regular starter for both club and country. The Spanish international has a very good ball distrubution and controls the game very well. He can fall back between the centre backs to help the team defensively. Zubimendi can pick a pass from deep end and is constantly looking for space which makes him threat for opposition.
Martin Zubimendi has played 45 matches for Real Sociedad in all competitions in this season. He has played 31 league matches and has managed to score 4 goals and also has 1 assist. Zubimendi has been Sociedad’s most important player this season averaging 49 passes per game. He has been great defensively too making 47 tackles and 37 interceptions. This stats can give a hint why Arsenal are interested in spanish midfielder.
Arsenal’s other transfer plans
Along with midfielder, sporting director Edu wants to fill some other positions too. The gunners are set to welcome a new left-back and also a striker.
Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah are first choice strikers for Arsenal. They have managed to score only 9 goals combined this season. It has caused Mikel Arteta to use Kai Havertz as a striker. Havertz has been very important for Arsenal. Yet to fill the void the gunners seem to go for a new striker.
Arsenal have been very heavily linked to Viktor Gyokeres. The 25 year old striker is having a very good season and also has been monitored very closely by Arsenal scouts. Sporting are demanding £86 million for Gyokeres. To bring the Swedish international to north london, Nketiah seems to make his way away. Nketiah is reported to be sold by Arsenal this season.
Another star who seems to make his way away from Emirates is Thomas Partey. The 30 year old midfielder has been a key component for Arsenal ever since his arrival. This season he was not upto mark and now is reported to be sold in summer market to make way for Zubimendi.
Emile Smith Rowe is also one of the star that maybe sold by Arsenal. According to GiveMeSport Smith Rowe will be sold if the good offer arises. The upcoming days will be key to decide Arsenal’s future next season.
