Mikel Arteta has confirmed Mohamed Elneny would start the game for Arsenal against Manchester United. Elneny has been in top form, especially around the latter half of the season. Elneny would be hoping to keep up his run of form.

Mohamed Elneny has been amazing for Arsenal barring the couple of years where he had a drop in form. He was on the transfer list years ago. Later, was sent on loan to Besiktas where he impressed everyone. At Arsenal, he has fought alongside his teammate Thomas Partey for a starting position which has impressed Mikel Arteta.

Arteta is a big fan of the midfielder and spoke highly of him in the pre-match press conference.

“I will say that for me, he’s one of the most important players in the squad, For what he does when you give him the chance to play and for the things that he does when he doesn’t play. A phenomenal person. And then you have to judge the footballer as well that sometimes doesn’t get probably the credit that he deserves”

Arteta was further asked about Elneny’s contract and a potential extension of his terms.

He said,

“It’s another one where we’re going to have another conversation at the end of the season and see what we do with that one as well. I am really happy with him, that’s what I can say.”

Arsenal and the top 4

Arsenal have turned their fortunes with their recent win against Chelsea 4-2. The Gunners are on a high and will be looking to continue their form into the United game. Last time they faced each other, the match ended in the favor of United where they won 3-2 thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo brace. Whereas, United are in terrible form with a recent 4-0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield. United will be hoping to change their fortunes while Arsenal hopes to continue it.
