Arsenal are staring at Champions League qualification after five wins in their last five league games has them sitting in fourth place. The Gunners won 2-0 against Leicester to cement their place in the top four with 3 games in hand over fifth-placed Manchester United. However, tough times are ahead as Arsenal face Liverpool next in the league. Arsenal are making the news on the pitch and their transfer plans are making off it. The club has set its sights on carving out another successful summer transfer window this year.
The work has already begun as well. Arsenal could see many outgoings this summer as many of their loanees could seal a permanent move. The North Londoners could receive as much as £21 million from those outgoings further helping them in the summer. But on the other hand, their prime target Ruben Neves could slip out of their hands. All the Arsenal transfer news is here which is developing at the moment.
Arsenal transfer news: The £21 million windfall
Arsenal splashed a massive £150 million last summer on transfers and the results have been positive. The club is in contention to play European football next season and as a result, are looking to reinforce the squad. While spending is already on the cards, Arsenal could also receive £21million from transfers. Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi’s permanent deals could see Arsenal earn those £21 million. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the news citing how much Arsenal could earn from those transfers.
In his tweet about the news, Romano wrote:
“Fiorentina are more than happy with Lucas Torreira. Talks on to reach an agreement on permanent deal with Arsenal – there’s €15million (£12.6million) buy option clause included in loan deal. Arsenal are open to let him go, it’d mean €25million-€26million (£21million-£21.8million) from Torreira-Fiorentina and Guendouzi-OM deals.”
Ruben Neves blow
Arsenal had identified Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves to bolster their midfield. Their rivals Manchester United have also registered firm interest in signing Ruben Neves. However, the Gunners have been dealt with a fresh blow in their pursuit of Neves. La Liga giants Barcelona have also entered the race to acquire Portuguese talent. Barcelona wants Neves to replace Sergio Busquets who has experienced a steady decline in his form.
Moreover, Jorge Mendes, Ruben Neves’ agent is said to be close friends with Barcelona president Joan Laporta. This could further accelerate Neves’ transfer to Barcelona. Furthermore, Neves is also keen on joining Xavi’s project at Camp Nou. Arsenal have had Ruben Neves on their radar for a longtime and are reportedly ready to shelve out £45 million on him. But recent news of Barcelona wanting Neves could alter Arsenal and their transfer policy. Nevertheless, the Gunners may have a plan-B ready as they are also linked with Leicester’s Youri Tielemans, who could cost them in the same region as Neves.
Fabian Ruiz boost
Arsenal may have gotten some disappointing news in Neves’ transfer, but positive reports are coming out of Italy. Arsenal’s another target, Napoli’s Fabian Ruiz has made his decision over a future move. Ruiz reportedly wants a return to Spain, with a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona in his sights. Arsenal however have something to rejoice here with the Spaniard’s new stance. As per Corriere Dello Sport, Ruiz is ready to anticipate an Arsenal move if Real or Barcelona transfer doesn’t happen.
The 25-year-old wants to leave Napoli and fancies Arsenal as his preferred destination apart from Spain. Moreover, Fabian Ruiz may have confirmed his decision as well after he rejected a move to Newcastle United. According to Corriere Dello Sport, Ruiz won’t sign for any other club than Arsenal in England. The Magpies bid around £42 million for Ruiz who bluntly rejected the proposal. Ruiz has 18 months left on his contract and Arsenal look set to pursue him in the summer. As of now, no firm interest from Real Madrid or Barcelona has been reported for Ruiz, which could pave the way for Arsenal to sign him.
