According to Di Marzio, Arsenal have reopened talks with Juventus for the signing of Dejan Kulusevski. The Gunners want to strengthen their midfield and attack and see Kulusevski as a candidate to help them with it. Their pursuit of Bruno Guimaraes is failed as Newcastle are very close to announcing the sign.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has also reportedly received a proposal from Juventus. According to David Ornstein, Barcelona have also shown their interest in signing the Arsenal forward on loan. Currently, Arsenal only have Alexandre Lacazette as a proper striker but with a contract expiring in less than six months.
Eddie Nketiah is another striker but he does not look capable of scoring in the Premier League week in and week out. Moreover, he also has a contract expiring in less than six months. Arsenal have to strengthen their attacking lineup as soon as possible to stay in the fight for the top four.
The Gunners want to return to the Champions League and strengthening their midfield and attack can help them a long way. Dejan Kulusevski also provides a different attacking option from what Arsenal already have now. Arsenal are also linked with Alexander Iska but his £90 million release clause makes the deal complicated.
What does Dejan Kulusevski have to offer Arsenal?
Dejan Kulusevski is a versatile player who can play in multiple positions and still deliver good performances. He has mostly played on the right-hand side for Juventus. However, he has also been featured as a left-sided forward, attacking midfielder, and also as a center-forward. This allows the manager to play him in a different role and provides a certain depth to the squad.
However, he likes to play behind the striker as an attacking midfielder. Kulusevski also struggles to get regular game time at Juventus. If he gets a good amount of game time at Arsenal then he might even develop day by day as a player and provide even more. The manager can assign a specific role to the Swedish according to his specialty where he can excel.
He is a young player and is ambitious who wants to win and develop every day. Kulusevski can do a lot better at an ambitious and growing club like Arsenal. He will have a better competition to face and overcome at Arsenal which will require the best of his qualities to win. Kulusevski still has a lot to learn and the Premier League is capable of teaching him a few things.
Since Juventus is also interested in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the likeliness of the deal taking place is also higher. A swap deal of some sort can take place between the clubs. However, the Bianconeri have signed a big fish from the market Dusan Vlahovic. This kills the odds of them signing the 32-year-old Aubemyang from Arsenal.
