Arsenal are making some interesting moves in the market. They have been linked with some quality midfielders and strikers. Sporting director Edu has also revealed about his plan to sign a left back. Currently the Arsenal scouts are interested in signing a 18 year old defender.
There has been a high quality defensive display from the gunners this season. They have kept clean sheet for 18 times in the Premier League and only conceded 28 goals. They have conceded less goals than anyone else in the league. However the left back position of Arsenal has not been at the highest level throughout the season. This has caused the gunners to look for a defender and Jorrel Hato is the name that has came in contention recently.
Why Arsenal are interested in the dutch defender
Arsenal’s first choice left back is Oleksandr Zinchenko. However he has not been at his best this season. Zinchenko has only played one out of the last five matches. Its looking like the Ukrainian international is losing his place as a regular starter. Jakub Kiwior and Takehiro Tomiyasu are the other options available for Arsenal. They have been used as left backs by Arteta in absence of Zinchenko.
Moving into next season, the gunners want to sign 18 year old dutch defender and develop him for future. Jorrel Hato has also been reported to be looked upon for months by the gunners. Football journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Arsenal are monitoring Hato and planning a move for him soon. Arsenal are planning moves for many players recently. Their strategy will be revealed after the end of the season. However they recently have already made a bid for Martin Zubimendi.
Sporting director Edu is very confident about signing a left back. He is also backing Mikel Arteta and the duo is doing their best for the club. It has been reported that Arteta is a big fan of dutch defender and wants him at Arsenal soon. Arteta is also ready to offload Kiwior to make way for Hato. Jakub Kiwior has made 20 appearances in premier league this season in which he has scored 1 goal and assisted 3 times. The Polish international maybe seen making his way away from North London at the end of the season.
A little about Jorrel Hato
Jorrel Hato was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands. He played for his hometown club Sparta Rotterdam until 2018. In 2018 he moved to Ajax at the age of 11 and has been there ever since. In January 2023, Hato made his professional debut for Ajax. A month later in february, Hato made his Eredivisie debut making him the third youngest player ever in Ajax’s history. Shortly after his Eredivisie debut, Hato scored his first ever professional goal. He was also called by Dutch national team in November and has also made his international debut.
Hato has been unbelievable this season. He has played 46 matches for Ajax in all competitions this season. Recently Hato has been elected as the Talent of the year for this season. He received the Marco Van Basten award after Ajax’s recent match.
Hato plays as left centre back but is also equally effective as left back. The technique and timming of dutch defender is very good earning him a spot as regular starter. Along with quality and hard defending the 18 year old has good pace. This allows him to use space and move forward with the ball. The current market value of Jorrel Hato is €22 million according to Transfermarkt. However it has not yet been decided by Ajax how much the demand for the defender. The heavy interest from Arsenal will force them to set a price for Hato soon.
