Arsenal player ratings as they defeat Wolves in a tight 1-0 fixture

Here we have with us the Arsenal player ratings as they defeat Wolves with just 10 men. The match was a tough fight between both teams and Arsenal were lucky to find the back of the net first. Wolves also had several chances to level the score, in fact, they had more chances than Arsenal. However, they suffered a loss as they failed to find the goal.

Arsenal opened the scoring in the 25th minute with a corner. Gabriel was quick to pounce on the open chance he got from Lacazette‘s attempt. Later, in the second half, Martinelli was given two yellow cards in the same play. Meaning he was sent off for two challenges in the same play.

Wolves had a few good chances to score but were unlucky to not find the back of the net. Lacazette had a chance to double the score but he also somehow fluffed it and failed to kill the game. Wolves were still trying to score but were saved by the heroics of Aaron Ramsdale and some good defending.

Arsenal are currently 5th on the Premier League table while Wolves are 8th. The Gunners are currently in a better position for finishing in the top four. However, they will have to continue this form to fulfill their goal. Wolves have been a tough nut to crack but they have to find ways to find the back of the net.

Aaron Ramsdale – 7/10

He was comfortable in the first half but had to be at his finest after Martinelli’s red card.

Cedric Soares – 7/10

Did well to step up for Tomiyasu and defended his side well throughout the game. Was constantly running up and down.

Ben White – 7/10

A solid defensive performance from White who dealt well in one vs one situations.

Gabriel – 8/10

Had a very good number of shots on goal and was also good defensively to keep the clean sheet.

Kieran Tierney – 6/10

Had a shaky start and was often caught in two minds. Was also not comfortable on the ball as he usually is.

Thomas Partey – 8/10

Partey looked very sharp from the start as he won the ball and also distributed the ball well.

Granit Xhaka – 7/10

Took up positions of the left-back at times and performed his defensive duties well. However, he had to sit back in the second half to keep the lead.

Martin Odegaard – 7/10

Odegaard started a few attacks with his good turns and link-up plays with Saka and Cedric.

Bukayo Saka – 6/10

His nutmeg, dribble and pass to find Lacazette was exciting to watch but overall had a quiet game.

Alexandre Lacazette – 5/10

Wasted a few good opportunities that came to him and should have killed the game twice.

Gabriel Martinelli – 4/10

Got a yellow card for obstructing the throw-in and also for tackling from behind which led to a red card for the same play.

Substitutes

Emile Smith-Rowe – 6/10

Tried to create chances with good runs with the ball but Lacazette failed to help him out.

Rob Holding – 7/10

Defended very well from the center of the three center-backs making 9 clearances in 19 minutes.
