Arsenal players who can be included in the Gnabry swap

The history of Gnabry at Arsenal : The Bavarian club has asked for a transfer fee of £40 million for reuniting with their former player. The winger spent 5 years at the Emirates Stadium outfit but never got a breakthrough. He made a total of 18 appearances for the senior Arsenal side mostly coming off from the bench. He then moved to West Brom on loan where he again had a rough time.

Arsenal finally decided to part ways for €5 million and sold him to Werder Bremen. At Bremen, he unleashed his true potential and made a move to Bayern Munich shortly. At Bayern, he won every possible trophy and played a key role for his team. In 171 appearances for the club, he scored 64 goals and claimed to assist for a further 40.

Now Mikel Arteta wants to add quality to the young squad of Arsenal and what better way to start so than with someone like the German international. However, budget constraints can lead him to include one of the following 4 players in a swap deal with Bayern for him.

Nicolas Pepe

Pepe’s time at Arsenal has been a huge disappointment. This season he managed to score only 3 goals and got 6 assists. In 2019, Arsenal bought him for a club-record fee. This summer, they are keen on offloading the former Lille winger and adding another quality one in the same position. With Mane joining the German club from Liverpool, they can afford to offload Gnabry to other clubs and buy a backup.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles

With the news of Marcel Sabitzer leaving circling, Bayern would be left with only two quality central mids in Kimmich and Goretzka. Nagelsmann might look at the opportunity to add fresh faces in that position and the England international can be a contender. On loan at Roma, he just won the inaugural Conference League.

Thomas Partey

The only potential obstacle for this swap to happen is that Arsenal fans saw too little from the Ghanaian midfielder. He didn’t have a smooth season at Emirates again because of injuries but glimpses of him impressed. Hence, the reason the club won’t part ways with him. But a swap with Ganbry might be tempting.

Folarin Balogun

Bayern Munich has to replace Robert Lewandowski either this summer or the next. By no means, Balogun is a candidate to replace his sheer goalscoring quality. But on the other hand, the club has an affinity to buy young players and make them world-class. Well, offering him in a swap will be audacious and highly unlikely, but who knows?
