Arsenal confirmed their signing of Auston Trusty from the MLS. However, he will stay at Colorado Rapids till the end of the season on loan from Arsenal. The Gunners will lend him out on loan again to a European side next season. Therefore, Arsenal fans won’t be able to see the American in an Arsenal shirt for 18 months.

Arsenal’s main targets for this window were a striker and a midfielder. They tried signing a deal with the man in form, Dusan Vlahovic. However, he has gone on to sign for Juventus later on. Arsenal were also linked with Alexander Isak and Ousmane Dembele but were again unlucky and suffered a defeat in their pursuit.

In the midfield, they tried signing Arthur Melo and Bruno Guimaraes. However, the talks broke down with Arthur and Bruno joined Newcastle instead of Arsenal. The Gunners also had an eye on Douglas Luiz but a deal looked tough as Villa wants to renew his contract. They are still without a midfield signing and have the same squad as before.

However, Arsenal made a last-ditch signing of Auston Trusty. Nevertheless, the American won’t be joining the Gunners till June 2023. Trusty is a good option as an investment for the future as Arsenal won’t need to buy a center-back in 2023 in case a player leaves in the future. He will basically act as a new signing in 2023 which will be great if he turns out to be a fine player.

What can Auston Trusty provide Arsenal and why has Arsenal opted to loan him out till 2023?

Auston Trusty is a 23-years-old center-back who plays in the MLS for Colorado Rapids. Despite being so young, he has a stature of 6ft 4in tall which gives him a massive advantage in the air. He can be a solid presence at the back and secure the goal for his goalkeeper with his strong physique.

Although Arsenal does have a good amount of players in the defensive department, they will need some new recruitments in the future. Some players may get old or may not perform up to the mark resulting in the sale of a few players. Moreover, when he returns, Arsenal will get a developed product rather than a developing talent.

Arsenal have loaned him to Colorado Rapids till the end of the season and might also loan him out for the next season. This is because he is unlikely to get a good amount of game time at Arsenal. Regular time on the pitch is very necessary for a developing player in order to get used to all the situations in a game.

Only time will tell how will Auston Trusty will fare out at Arsenal. Many may think that this was a consolation signing for the Gunners. However, if things go well then he can be a serious player for Arsenal. The American will not want to miss out on an opportunity so big so easily. He will give his best in order to stay in the Premier League and compete for titles.
