Arsenal are said to have settled for three midfield transfer targets for the upcoming summer.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s go-to men at the midfield last season were Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka.

Xhaka has reportedly agreed to sign a new contract at the Emirates despite interest from Roma.

Albert Sambi Lokonga could not earn the faith of the boss in his debut season.
However, Mohamed Elneny broke into the first team during Partey’s long absence due to an injury in the latter half of the season.

Elneny’s high-class performances at the end of the season should fetch him a transfer extension for the Egyptian. His contract ends at the end of this month.

Still, the Gunners would heavily ply the market for a new midfielder to renew their hopes of a Champions League qualification next year.

Arsenal had to settle for Europa League this season as they lost their place to Tottenham.

Lucas Torreira and Ainsley Maitland-Niles could both fly out of the Emirates next season. They could be joined by Matteo Guendouzi as his loan term at Marseilles has already become permanent.

Who are the three midfielders that Arsenal have their eyes on this summer?

Goal correspondent Charles Watts reports that Arsenal now have identified three midfielders for this season. The first of them includes Leicester’s Youri Tielemans.

The Belgian’s deal is set to expire at the end of next season. Moreover, Leicester would want to sell him before he becomes a free transfer next season.

Tielemans is said to command a transfer fee of £25million. He spent three and a half years at the King Power stadium.

During this tenure, he scored 24 goals and assisted another 24 in the 158 appearances that he made for the club.

The second on this list is said to be Oleksandr Zinchenko who has been identified as a priority target.

Though, he primarily plays as a left-back at his current club Manchester City. He is seen to be operating from the midfield while playing for his nation Ukraine.

Moreover, he had an impressive performance on the pitch while their win over Scotland in the World Cup qualifiers.

The 25-year-old has two years left on his contract. Besides, he only played for City 10 times this season.

The player finishing off this list is Wolves’ Ruben Neves.

Though he has still two years left on his contract, he is scouted by Arsenal.

He scored four goals and assisted twice this season in the Premier League.
