According to reports, Arsenal are resolute about adding Lautaro Martinez to their squad. The Gunners are willing to break the bank if that is what it takes.

They have firmly put forward a contract offer worth £275,000 a week if he moved to the Emirates. They have narrowed in on the forward as a leading target in the final third.

They are battling the likes of Tottenham Hotspur for the Argentine’s signature. Spurs are one such club, along with Arsenal, who are eyeing the striker.

How would Martinez fit in the Arsenal Squad?

Martinez won the Serie A with Inter Milan last term. However, the Italian outfit are now parting with some of its best players to balance their books. They have agreed to sell Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea and Arsenal now want to bring Martinez to London as well.

The Gunners have held initial talks with his representatives and have concluded that they are willing to pay him £275,000-a-week.

Arsenal have several attackers in their ranks, but the likes of Aubameyang and Lacazette are struggling for form. Martinez would succeed in refreshing their frontline and perhaps prompt the other strikers to find their feet again.

Edge over Tottenham

According to Eurosport, Arsenal are ‘very keen’ on the 23-year-old. Nonethless, Mikel Arteta’s side are yet to make a firm offer for the South American. He has less than 2 years left his contract at San Siro.

Tottenham might struggle to rival Arsenal’s wage offer, considering that their highest earner is Harry Kane and he earns comparatively lesser. Spurs are reportedly willing to spend £60,000,000 for the striker this summer.

Nuno Santo is known to be preparing for the possible departure of Harry Kane.
