Van Dijk revealed the toughest opponents he ever faced in a talk show with Rio Ferdinand. As per reports, Arsenal are chasing one of them in the upcoming summer transfer window.
With the Premier League season now over, The Gunners can now look to strengthen their squad. Altogether, the recently concluded Premier League campaign was a mixed one for the Arsenal fans out there. They finished 5th, behind their North London rivals Tottenham Hotspurs, who will play Champions League next season.
Mikel Arteta’s side has to remain contented with Europa League action next season. Also not achieving UCL football, sure it will hamper their potential targets for the transfer window. Even though, they will look to reinforce their squad with quality signings. And as per reports, Darwin Nunez is one of them.
Arsenal currently has only 2 senior strikers in their ranks. Arteta let go of Aubameyang in the January transfer window but failed to bring in a replacement for the Gabonese. Moreover, Alexandre Lacazette had a horrible season for the Emirates Stadium outfit and he will leave the club as well this window. Eddie Nketiah will sign a new contract at Arsenal as per reports, but the club won’t bank on him only. The North London club are in dire need of a quality striker and needs to sign at least one if not two.
Van Dijk on Nunez
Rio Ferdinand on FIVE asked Van Dijk the toughest opponents he ever faced. The Dutchman admitted Darwin Nunez as one of them along with Aguero and Messi. “Darwin… very direct, quick, tall, strong, it’s quite difficult to play against those guys.”
Romano on Arsenal target Nunez leaving Benfica : “He had an incredible season. He made a decision and he is going to leave Benfica this summer, 100 percent. I see many rumours about him but I am told he is really tempted by the Premier League, he would love a Premier League move. This summer, let’s see what happens, many clubs interested.”
