Arsenal is keeping close tabs on Manchester City and England ace Raheem Sterling, as they seek to bolster their attack. According to reports, Mikel Arteta is keen to sign the 26-year-old.

Mikel Arteta is said to be a huge admirer of the England winger, developing a good relationship with him during his time as Guardiola’s number two at City. The England international has less than two years remaining on his current deal with the Premier League champions. And talks over a new contract had stalled. Arsenal looking to try their best to snatch Sterling away from City if possible.

Sterling enjoyed an excellent Euro 2020 this summer, scoring three goals as England reached the final against Italy. He earned himself a spot in the team of the tournament. But sterling has seemingly fallen behind Jack Grealish in the Etihad pecking order since his compatriot’s £100m arrivals. The 26-year-old has only started in just two of City’s six Premier League fixtures so far.

Manchester City may choose to cash in on him for a reduced price rather than renew his contract. Another big stumbling block on any potential deal is Sterling’s wages. The report claims the former Liverpool man is earning £300,000 per week at The Etihad, but wants this improved to £350,000 should he stay in Manchester for an extended stint.
