According to CBS Sports, Premier League giants Arsenal are targeting Serie A star strikers Victor Osimhen and Lautaro Martinez for the summer transfer window.
Arsenal looks really strong at the moment to finish in the top four of the Premier League at the end of the season. The club look set to return to Champions League football at the end of the season. The club are on a very good run of form in the league. Mikel Arteta is finally getting the best out of his squad this season.
The Gunners let go of their star striker and club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on a free transfer in the January transfer window. The striker joined Barcelona after a fallout with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta. French striker Alexandre Lacazette is leading the line for the gunners in the past few weeks. The French striker has not been in the form of his life in front of the goal. But the forward has provided plenty of assists.
Lacazette has made a total of 29 appearances across all competitions this term. In this time he has recorded six goals and eight assists in this time. (stats via Transfermarkt) But the striker is out of contract in the summer. While Mikel Arteta has confirmed that the club will talk to the striker after the season for a potential new contract. But there is still doubt among the Arsenal faithful whether the striker can lead the line for the years to come.
The only other striker at the club is young Eddie Nketiah. Eddie Nketiah comes off the bench every game basically in the 70th minute. But the young striker is also out of contract in the summer. The England striker has shown no signs of signing a new deal with the club and looks set to leave the club for free next summer.
Victor Osimhen and Lautaro Martinez: Who is a better striker fit for Arsenal?
Both Victor Osimhen and Lautaro Martinez are very highly rated in Serie A. Both the strikers are recognized, goal scorers. The striker are young and would fit in perfectly into the young Arsenal frontline. Victor Osimhen has recorded 15 goals and four assists across all competitions this term. While Lautaro Martinez has recorded 16 goals and two assists across all competitions this term.
The Inter Milan striker would certainly cost well over €100 million. But Victor Osimhen could be available for €70 million in the summer. Victor Osimhen could be the perfect fit for Arsenal and will be available for a cheaper transfer fee than Martinez.
