Arsenal to battle Aston Villa to snatch the Brazilian away from their grabs

Aston Villa

According to Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal remains keen on snatching Philippe Coutinho away from Aston Villa. The Lions signed Coutinho from Barcelona on a loan deal in January. Villa pays just less than a quarter of his £480,000-a-week salary. However, Villa may struggle to pay his full current salary and Barcelona also might have second thoughts over letting him leave permanently.

Philippe Coutinho has come to life at Aston Villa scoring four goals and assisting three in 10 appearances for the club. Steven Gerrard will be looking forward to making the loan move a permanent deal after such impressive performances by the Brazilian. However, Villa have to pay £33.5 million to make the loan deal permanent.

Arsenal were previously interested in signing the Brazilian but their move fell out. Philippe Coutinho has struggled to get regular game time at Barcelona. However, he flourished in his loan spell at Bayern Munich. Barcelona thought that Coutinho would then return with flying colors but that was not the case.

It seems that Coutinho likes the Premier League more. Therefore, as soon as his loan spell ends, Arsenal could make a move for the Brazilian. Philippe Coutinho could help Arsenal push for trophies next season by increasing their chances to win against big clubs. However, many Liverpool fans may not like the fact that he will be making a move to their rivals.

Why does Arsenal want to sign Philippe Coutinho?

Philippe Coutinho can play as a winger and also as an attacking midfielder. He is a Brazilian and the Brazilian style of play fits in easily with most of the teams in modern football. Coutinho also likes to cut inside from the left side of the pitch.

Coutinho is also one of the best long shot takers with good power and accuracy. He can also curl one into the top corner from outside the box. Moreover, Coutinho is also a serious threat on set pieces as he delivers pinpoint balls and is even capable of scoring direct free-kicks. Defenders do not like to give him even a yard of space as they know how capable he is to score with a long shot.

Arsenal will not be short of creating chances with Coutinho and Odegaard on their side. The pair can work with each other to help their team score more goals. Arsenal are prime contenders to play in the Champions League next season and will need a master creator like Coutinho in their squad.

Signing Philippe Coutinho will cost Arsenal some money which many will question if it will be worth it. However, Arsenal will profit from his experience at the top level and other youngsters could learn a few things from him. Arsenal should push to sign the Brazilian as they require that immediate success for next season.
