Arsenal summer signing Marquinhos will go out on a loan in the next transfer window. This move will happen despite his impressive debut in the Europa League in the victory over FC Zurich. The Arsenal youngster registered a goal and an assist on his competitive debut which help Arsenal win the match 2-1 against the Swiss Champions. Despite this, Arteta is considering sending Marquinhos on a loan move to further his development.
According to the Sun, Marquinhos will be allowed to leave the club if and only if Arsenal are successful in signing a new winger in the January transfer window. Arsenal had already decided that the player will be sent on loan when he arrived. However, they changed their mind when they saw how quickly he familiarised himself with the senior squad. Moreover, Marquinhos also became pretty popular with Arsenal’s homegrown players. According to the same report by the Sun, Marquinhos’ performance with the first team convinced Arteta to let Nicolas Pepe leave in the next window.
Arsenal manager speaks out on Marquinhos
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admitted his surprise with how well Marquinhos has gelled with the squad. Moreover, he was also impressed with his progress with the Gunners. Arteta said:
“He’s a really likeable figure in the dressing room and around [Arsenal] Colney even if his language is not great yet. I think his physicality has been pretty exceptional for someone who came from Brazil with a different way to train and to play the way he’s done it. I think he’s got very good qualities for how we want to play.”
Arsenal sit at the top of the Premier League table six games into the season. Fantastic performances have already made them a contender for the title. However, it is too early in the season to be sure as of yet.
