Arsenal made a bid for Barcelona’s Raphinha in the January transfer window but the Spanish Club rejected the offer for the Brazilian.

Arteta’s side had a productive transfer window last month, as they brought the likes of Leandro Trossard, Jorginho and Jakub Kiwior as they look to challenge for the Premier League Title. If they influenced Raphinha to join them at the Emirates, then that would have been a masterstroke for The Gunners.

As per Sport report, Arsenal made a bid of £61.7 million for Raphinha in January. However, Barcelona turned down the bid, as Xavi thinks that the Brazilian has a great future ahead. The Gunners earlier inquired about Raphinha when he was at Leeds United.

In the past, The Athletic reported that Arsenal were in a prime position to sign Raphinha until Barce came in and hijacked the deal. Xavi was instrumental in bringing the Brazilian to Camp Nou.

His Former Lead teammate, Kalvin Phillips hailed the Brazilian as “unbelievable” and further said:-

“You don’t really realise that when you’re on the pitch, you just want to win. Raph’s been unbelievable ever since he’s come through the door.

“He’s had a lot of critics over the last few months but his attitude and the way he has stuck at it, the way he has played has been unbelievable.”

However, it would have been massive for Arsenal fans if they signed Raphinha last month. The forward has scored five goals, this season and looks instrumental in Barca’s title-winning run.

But Arsenal might again pursue him in the summer transfer window.
