Arsenal will make another offer to Aston Villa for Douglas Luiz which will be less than the ones made before
Arsenal have had some serious injury concerns and the season hasn’t even started properly. Thomas Partey and Mohamed Eleny are injured and they lack a proper defensive midfielder. This is where the lack of quality in the depth hurts the Gunners. So, to rub some salve, they want to sign Aston Villa’s defensive midfielder Douglas Luiz. Arsenal will make a move despite getting two of their bids rejected in the last transfer window.
Aston Villa might have no choice but to let the player leave in the transfer window. Douglas Luiz has a year left in his contract with Aston Villa. If Arsenal comes knocking, Aston Villa will look to get some cash in return or get nothing in the next window. According to the Sun, Arsenal are likely to offer “less than £23 million” to land Douglas Luiz. Arsenal thinks that a £15 million bid is much more reasonable for the player.
Douglas Luiz has had very few appearances for Aston Villa this season. Moreover, he fancies a move to Arsenal and has a good relationship with Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal manager whom he knows from their Manchester City days. His signing would be a good increment in the depth of the squad which it needs desperately.
Arsenal sits at the top of the Premier League table with six wins from seven matches played so far. Thomas Partey has missed four of these due to his thigh injury. The club recalled Thomas Partey early from his international duties. The Ghanaian reports a slight discomfort with his knees which was the reason for his early recall. The Gunners are taking no chances before the big north London derby which will take place on Saturday.
