According to The Mirror, Arsenal is willing to go for Dusan Vlahovic’s signature in January to avoid competition in the summer. Moreover, the Gunners are ready to offer a massive amount to Fiorentina for the signing. However, he has decided to not leave Fiorentina in the middle of the season.

Dusan Vlahovic has been in top form for Fiorentina this season. He has not stopped scoring and is the top scorer of Serie A this term. He has scored 18 goals and assisted twice in 22 appearances in all competitions this season. The 21-year-old has decided to leave the club in the summer but wants to complete his season there. However, many big clubs are interested in signing the young striker.

Arsenal have axed their club captain Aubameyang for disciplinary issues and is likely to leave the club. Moreover, Lacazette and Nketiah are also likely to leave when their contracts expire in the summer. They are desperate to sign a striker and need a player who can score week in and week out.

Dusan Vlahovic has done exactly that and can do even more if he gets more supply. He will have a better system and will be surrounded by better players at Arsenal. However, he will have even better options than Arsenal’s project that might be tempting. Moreover, Arsenal wants him in January and the striker wants to complete his season to Fiorentina.

Why is Arsenal pushing so hard for Dusan Vlahovic?

Arsenal have probably understood that they are not the best at attracting players. Many other big clubs have better attractive qualities. Therefore, Arsenal wants to secure his signing in January to avoid competition in the summer. They are ready to break the bank now rather than miss out on his signing in the summer.

Dusan Vlahovic is a physically powerful striker with enough speed to beat or hold defenders. Furthermore, he takes 3.5 shots per game (stat via whoscored), a statistic that might increase if he joins a better squad. Arsenal can use Dusan Vlahovic’s help to establish themselves as a consistent top-four contender and qualify for the Champions League.

Arsenal does not have strikers who can score week in and week out. Dusan Vlahovic has proved that he can do that on regular basis. If Dusan can do it for Fiorentina then he might as well do it for Arsenal. Moreover, Arsenal will have a player to build their squad around as they are currently struggling to find that player with the right mentality.

Some reports suggest that Vlahovic does not prefer a move to Arsenal as he wants to play Champions League regularly. However, Arsenal will do everything in their power to change the mind of Dusan Vlahovic. It will be interesting to see who Vlahovic chooses as his next club and whether he will keep up with the good form he has now.
