Mikel Arteta explains why Jorginho came off at half-time in the Everton game

Arteta have explained that Jorginho was not feeling great after the first half of the game. Therefore Jorginho was replaced by Thomas Partey for the second half. The manager explained,

“I am really happy as it was the game we had in hand against an opponent that we knew would make life really difficult for us. We experienced that at Goodison. We started the game with some frustration and not really understanding what we had to do and allowed them to run in certain transitions. But after 25 minutes we started to get much better and the timing of the two goals was key.”

He further went on,

“We needed a magic moment there. And Alex (Zinchenko) produced that. And then the team grew especially with Thomas (Partey) as Jorginho was not feeling good today.

“When he came on he really gave some presence and some stability to the team and I think the second half was superb.”

Jorginho joined Arsenal this January for a £12 million transfer fee. The player have also shared why he left Chelsea after being there for a long time. Jorginho admitted that he was no longer included in the Chelsea plans and therefore decided to part ways with the Blues. Arsenal’s project had attracted him and therefore he joined the Gunners.
