Aston Villa might sign Mauro Icardi this summer

According to journalist Josh Holland, Aston Villa must make a move for Paris Saint Germain striker Mauro Icardi this summer. Also, Icardi is looking for a new club this window as his future at the Parisian club is uncertain now.

While speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Holland mentioned the name of the Argentine forward as a potential signing. He believes that the 29 year old can be a decent signing for the Midlands club if he opts to join them. The rumours are coming after PSG signed Hugo Ekitike and Icardi’s future is in jeopardy at his current club. Holland said:

“I’m thinking now PSG have signed Ekitike. That could maybe pave the way for Icardi, who’s obviously been linked with a move away.”

As already mentioned, with PSG signing Ekitike, Icardi will again fall further down the pecking order. So the former Inter Milan man might decide to leave and take up a new challenge elsewhere. In his current contract at PSG, he has around 2 years left.

In a few previous reports, many reported that Steven Gerrard’s side is looking for a new striker. The reports also linked Luis Suarez to Villa following a good relationship between Gerrard and him. Both of them played at Liverpool for quite some time and are really on good terms. But that news piece soon fell out. Suarez departed Atletico Madrid this summer on a free transfer.

In his overall club career, Suarez boasts of a great record of scoring 436 goals along with 238 assists. However, they opted against signing him and decided to continue with Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings. Though that duo managed only 18 goals last season, the club management believes they will do better. But even if Aston Villa decide to go for another goalscoring option, they can think about Icardi, the surprise package.
