Azharuddin trolled after commenting on T-20 WC

After BCCI declared the T-20 World Cup squad, former Indian Captain Azharuddin tweeted his views. However, the fans didn’t take it nicely and trolled him mercilessly. Not only that, they pointed out Shreyas Iyer‘s short ball struggles. They moreover commented that it was better not to expose Shreyas on Australia’s bouncy tracks.

India suffered a disheartening premature exit from the Asia Cup 2022. Rohit Sharma-led Team India will now focus on the upcoming ICC World T20. The Board of Control for Cricket In India (BCCI), on Monday, announced the squad for the T20 World Cup 2022. Rohit Sharma will be leading the squad as usual. With KL Rahul as his deputy. Former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin however was shocked to two-star performers missing.

Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s knee injury has indeed been a huge blow for team India. The veteran all-rounder will henceforth miss the T20 World Cup. Senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah however will be back. So is Harshal Patel, the death-bowling. Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin too got his spot in place of Ravi Bishnoi. However, pacer Avesh Khan couldn’t manage his place in the T-20 World Cup.

Surprised at the omission of Shreyas Iyer and Md. Shami: Azharuddin

Former Indian Captain Azharuddin was ‘surprised’ to see the omission of Mohammed Shami and Shreyas Iyer’s names in the 15-man list.

Azharuddin tweeted,

“Surprised at the omission of Shreyas Iyer and Md. Shami from the main squad.”

He further added,

“Shreyas Iyer instead of Deepak Hooda and Md. Shami in the place of Harshal Patel would be my choice.”

However, fans didn’t take that nicely.

Netizens focused on Shreyas Iyer’s weakness regarding the short balls. They further said, the board shouldn’t expose him on Australia’s bouncy tracks.

Md. Shami and batter Iyer have got their names in the standby list. The T-20 World Cup will start on October 16 and will end on November 13 in Australia.

The Indian selectors have also announced India’s squads for the T20I series against Australia and South Africa at home.
