The rise of Babar Azam in International Cricket at such a young age is praiseworthy. Every time he steps onto the field, he breaks an existing record or creates a new one. Babar is at the peak of his career and in the purplest of patches. He is a delight to watch and plays picturesque drives and pulls. He is the only batsman in the top 10 rankings in all 3 formats.

The Record

The no 3 T20 ranked batsman is all set to break another record. The 27-year-old Pakistan batter is on the verge of adding another feather to his cap. He needs 61 runs to become the fastest batsman to complete 3000 runs in T20 Internationals. The previous record was set by Virat Kohli. He made 3000 runs in 81 innings. Babar currently stands on 2939 runs in 79 innings. He has one innings to break the record. Babar will be playing the 5th T20 against England at his home ground Karachi.

Game Recognizes Game

Recently, Virat Kohli showered Babar Azam with some praiseworthy words. He hailed Babar as the best all-format batsman in the world.

“The first interaction I had with him was the 2019 World Cup after the game in Manchester. Him and Imad (Wasim). Imad I have known since Under-19 cricket, we have played against each other and Imad said Babar wanted to have a chat,”

Kohli said in a chat with Star Sports.

“We sat down and spoke about the game. I saw a lot of regard and respect from him and that hasn’t changed regardless of the fact that he is probably the top batsman in the world right now across formats, performing so consistently,”

the former India skipper said.
There is a lot of mutual respect between the two legends of the game. Babar would be looking to break Kohli’s record and match the Indian stalwart.
