Asia Cup 2022 has already started this Saturday. However, the fans will ardently be waiting for the big arc rivalry. The Babar Azam-led Pak vs Rohit Sharma-led India will be on Sunday, 28th August. Ahead of the mega clash, the former Indian Cricketer Wasim Jaffer gave a witty view while interacting with ESPN Cricinfo. Jaffer said,

“I think Rohit will have more impactful runs. But I feel Babar will make more runs.”

Right now, Rohit Sharma is enjoying the second highest spot. Currently, he is having 883 runs after playing 26 innings. The Indian Skipper needs just 89 runs to overtake Master Blaster Tendulkar’s record. However, he needs to smash that against Pakistan on Sunday.

Coach marks Babar Azam as a “World class player”

Meanwhile, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has been in great form this year. He has featured in 10 white-ball matches (only one T20I). However, he has bagged a fifty-plus score in nine of those ten matches. He has smashed six half-centuries- one in T20I and five in ODIs. He also has three centuries to his name. Moreover, in last year’s T20 World Cup, he has been in the highest run-getter.

Moreover, Babar got praise from former cricketer and present Pakistan batting coach Mohammad Yousuf. He has mentioned Babar as a ‘world-class player”. While speaking in Dubai at the ICC Academy, Yousuf said,

“Babar Azam is a world class player and his consistent performance in all three formats from the last three years is the solid proof of his flight. He plays well under pressure, big players are those who perform under pressure. It’s never easy for a captain to focus on his skills. In fact, he is performing well in all three formats.”

However, after the clash in last year’s T20 World Cup, this will be the first time both the teams will play against each other. The last time, both the teams faced at the same venue- Pakistan defeated India by 10 wickets. Their lead seamer Shaheen Afridi himself took the top 3 wickets. However, he won’t be there in this tournament owing to injury. Mohammed Hasnain came into the squad in place of Shaheen.

Nonetheless, Babar will seek all the limelight towards him. He smashed 68 runs and stood not out throughout. Henceforth, led his team with Mohammad Rizwan, to a 10-wicket win against India.
