According to Daily Mail, FC Barcelona have set their eyes on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for a loan move to Spain. The Gabon international was axed from his captaincy at Arsenal because of his disciplinary issues. Moreover, he is also unlikely to stay at the club for a longer period of time.
Barcelona want to replace Sergio Aguero who has announced retirement from football because of heart issues. The Catalans want an experienced striker who can help them finish their chances. Moreover, the striker’s experience can also be of huge help to the youngsters in the squad. The current strikers at Barcelona are struggling to find the back of the net on a regular basis.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has lost the form that he previously had. He was one of Europe’s most dangerous strikers when he was at Borussia Dortmund. He also had a few good spells at Arsenal and was once in the race for being the top scorer of the Premier League. However, it has just not happened with Aubameyang and Arsenal recently.
Barcelona are also facing a major financial crisis and are a bit inclined to get players who are free or out of form. If Barcelona is able to get the best out of Aubameynag then it will be a huge signing. However, many are not expecting Aubameyang to join Barcelona and explode with form. This is also one of the reasons why Barcelona are considering a loan move rather than a permanent move for the 32-year-old. However, agreeing to wages can stumble this deal and may collapse if an agreement is not reached.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was one of the fastest players in the world at one point of time. He can offer pace into the attack and offer intensity high upon the pitch. Moreover, he was also a great goalscorer and can help Barcelona a lot if he gets back in form.
Barcelona are struggling to finish their chances which has later haunted them in matches ending up losing crucial points in the league. If Aubemeyang goes to Barcelona then they will have another option in the attack and Depay can shift to the left wing where he can trouble defenses.
Moreover, Aubameyang has played on the left for Arsenal and can replicate the same at Barcelona if required. In addition, Xavi likes players who offer width, and Aubameyang’s runs to the wide areas can complement the manager’s ideas. However, these are all the cases where Aubameyang succeeds at Barcelona and does not become a flop.
Barcelona does not have a good record with their new signings in recent years. The club is now more motivated to make good recruits but does not have the financial power to sign the in-form players.
Aubameyang is not the striker that he once was but certainly has the quality of being a good one. However, he has not been able to display that quality on the pitch for some reason. A move away from Arsenal might give him a fresh start and may help him to return to his best.
However, the Gabon international is now 32-year-old and does not have many years left. Therefore, if a loan move with Barcelona is agreed then he should give it his all to let the world know that he still has it in him.
