Barcelona eyeing a move for Aymeric Laporte

Barcelona, Six Sports

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Barcelona will shift their priority to signing Aymeric Laporte if they fail to sign Jules Kounde this summer. Barcelona are pursuing Jules Kounde’s signature to consolidate their defense this summer. Andreas Christensen has already joined Barcelona on a free transfer this season to consolidate the defense. If the Kounde deal is unsuccessful, Laporte is an option for Barcelona. However, it is unlikely that Laporte will be allowed to leave by City.

Laporte joined Manchester City from the Athletic club in 2018. He is one of the best defenders in the league. However, Pep Guardiola has not always made him the undisputed first-choice center-back. Moreover, his exploits in the league have helped him to be an integral part of the Spanish national team. Laporte has made 53 appearances for City and has contributed twelve assists and three assists. This performance has made him a starter for the Spanish national side. Moreover, this performance has also made him one of the most sought-after CBS in Europe.

Jules Kounde remians a priority Barcelona.

.Gerrard Pique is approaching the end of his career. Samuel Umitit and Oscar Minguenza have not been included in Xavi’s plans this summer and they have asked to find new clubs this summer. Safe to say, Barcelona is in a tight spot both moneywise and in the position of defense. The arrival of Andreas Christensen must provide some respite to Barcelona’s defense problems. However, Barcelona will breathe a sigh of relief if they manage to sign Jules Kounde.

In case Barcelona are unsuccessful in signing Kounde, Laporte is their backup target. The Spanish player also is a left-footed center-back. The only left footer, Clement Lenglet, has departed on a loan to Tottenham Hotspurs. However, it should be said that Laporte is a key figure in Guardiola’s team and it is unlikely that he will depart the Etihad this season. Only time will tell if Barcelona can prise away Laporte from Manchester City.
