Barcelona have intensified their pursuit of Polish striker Robert Lewandowski. The Poland international has been raring to move away from Germany this transfer window. Lewandowski’s relationship has become very rocky over the last few seasons. All of it reached its climax when Robert Lewandowski expressed his frustrations towards the club in an interview while on international duties with Poland.

“My era at Bayern is over,” Lewandowski said. “I don’t see any possibility to continue playing for this club anymore. Bayern’s a serious club, and I believe they won’t keep me. I don’t want to play there anymore. A transfer is the best solution. I hope they don’t stop me,”

Bayern’s loss is a gain for Barcelona . Despite the financial difficulties of the club, Barcelona are trying their hardest to bring Lewandowski to Camp Nou. However, Bayern are reluctant to let him go.

Lewandowski’s legacy at Bayern Munich

Last season, Lewandowski helped Bayern claim their tenth consecutive Bundesliga title. Lewandowski scored an astonishing 35 goals in just 34 games in Bundesliga. Lewandowski was Europe’s top score in the 2021/22 season of football.

As a whole, Lewandowski has played 375 games for Bayern and has scored 344 goals for them. He also has 72 assists to his name.

The Polish striker has broken numerous records with the German giants. The most notable of the achievements is undoubtedly his 5 goals in a mere 8 minutes and 59 seconds for Bayern Munich against Wolfsburg.

Bayern is hopeful of keeping Lewandowski.

The Bavarians are extremely reluctant to sell their star center-forward. Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn has had a meeting with Lewandowski and his agent in Mallorca and had a very “positive discussion” about the striker’s future at Bayern.

However, Lewandowski always had a dream to play in Spain. Xavi is also interested in the Striker. According to multiple reports, he wants a world-class striker in his squad who can guarantee 30 or more goals per season.

Now with Barcelona making an offer to Bayern, all the cards are on the table. However, its hard to see Bayern accepting a fee of just €35m for the Pole.

While Bayern are unwilling to let Lewandowski go, he is adamant about not playing for the club again. It’s a very strange tug of war going on between them. Only one thing remains to be seen, that is if Barcelona can pull this tug of war in their favor and end up with a world-class striker.
