Barcelona reach a principal agreement with Ansu Fati over a new deal

Barcelona have reached a principal agreement on a new contract with Ansu Fati which will see the forward sign a new five-year deal.

Ansu Fari’s current deal was set to run out at the end of the season. And the new contract means that Fati is here to stay. Barcelona fans finally have some good news to cheer about.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Mateu Alemany(Barça’s director of football), had a meeting with Jorge Mendes (Fati’s agent). And have come to an agreement in principle on an extension. The new deal would run until 2027. It is also being reported that Ansu Fati told his agent that he only ‘wanted to stay at Barcelona.

The Catalan giants have recently tied down Pedri to a new deal and now a new contract for Ansu Fati. Barcelona are trusting the young duo to bring back the good times at Barcelona. Fati’s contract just like Pedri’s contains a  €1bn (£840m) release clause.

Ansu Fati only returned from a serious knee injury this month after nearly a year on the sidelines. Since his return, he has been in impressive form for Koeman’s side. Scoring in two of his last three league appearances for Barcelona.

Barcelona are still in massive financial debt and will be certainly hoping the new generation of players at the club can step up and fill in the big boots left behind by the likes of  Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann. The group of youngsters hoping to lead a new era at Barcelona, includes the likes of Fati, Gavi, Sergino Dest, Eric Garcia, Ronald Araujo and Nico Gonzalez.

Ansu Fati was given the number famous 10 shit at the start of the season. Vacated by the club legend Lionel Messi. Barcelona hierarchy and fans know the high potential of Ansu Fati. And will be hoping that he can reach the heights just like their previous ‘number 10’.
