Manchester United reportedly offered £60million and £10m add-ons for Dutchman Frenkie De Jong. However, Barcelona are said to have rejected the bid outright. The Red Devils are dealing with the departures of key midfielders like Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, and Jesse Lingard. Therefore, Erik Ten Hag is desperately looking for players to bolster his midfield this summer.

Moreover, De Jong is said to be one of the primary targets for Ten Hag this summer. He is said to be pushing for this deal to materialize. United were said to have tabled its first offer this week. However, as the Daily Mirror reports that bid was not accepted by the Catalan club.

However, United are not dejected with this development. As it has been known that De Jong wants to leave Camp Nou and come to Old Trafford this summer after hearing of Barca’s plans to release him in order to gather some funds.

Both United and De Jong would not have any problems agreeing on personal terms. However, the only barrier to sealing the deal is the transfer fee. Once that is finalized, the deal would be good to go through.
