Barcelona coach Xavi have hinted at the club’s interest to sign the 16-year-old striker. Palmeiras starlet Endrick is one of the upcoming young players of South America’s top-flight title. The youngster has scored 3 goals in his 7 appearances for the first team. Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea are all too keen to sign the player. Meanwhile, PSG and Real Madrid are also keeping a close eye on the player. But it is Barcelona who hopes to get the upper hand here.

Barcelona coach Xavi on youngster

Barcelona coach Xavi have insisted that negotiations with the player have already taken place. Xavi have told ESPN,

“He have been speaking with his father and also directly with the player. I explained the project we have in Barcelona. We want him and he is a talent, capable of making a difference. He can score, he can dribble, he has a brutal ability to make the difference.”

The Barcelona coach further continued,

“He is a player from the present, who is already playing in the Brazilian league, and also from the future. It’s the type of player we need. He already knows the project we have at Barcelona and we are talking. We hope he becomes our player. It depends on him. It always depends on the player. Usually, a player will end up playing where he wants to play. So it’s a very personal decision by Endrick.”

Endrick’s future is still to be decided

It has been reported that Endrick’s contract with Palmeiras includes a release clause. Even if he does take up any offers he will not be making a move to Europe before 2024 when the player turns 18 years of age. Endrick is the second youngest player to ever score in Brazilian Serie A. He clearly still has a lot of time to grow up to be a World class footballer.
