Barcelona to sign Busquets’ replacement in January

Barcelona has had a great recruitment window this summer. However, one player that the club needs to find a replacement for is the captain Sergio Busquets. Busquet’s contract is set to expire next year. Barcelona have a year left to find a replacement for their captain. According to Sport, the club is now planning to bring in a player in the January transfer window. The player that the Blaugrana are looking to sign is Wolves midfielder, Ruben Neves.

A long-term replacement for the club captain was on the agenda for the club this season. However, the Blaugrana have plenty of options in the middle of the park. Moreover, they want to reinforce other positions of the squad as well. In the forwards department, they signed Ferran Torres, Aubameyang, Raphinha, and Robert Lewandowski. Barcelona also resigned Ousmane Dembele this season. In the defense, they have signed Andreas Christensen and Jules Kounde. Marcos Alonso will also arrive at Camp Nou which means they have options in the left-back position as well. Meanwhile, Frank Kessie is the only major signing for the midfield this season. Barcelona will look to sign an experienced midfielder to handle the middle of the pitch for them from the next season. According to Barcelona, Wolves midfielder, Ruben Neves is the perfect man for this job.

Barcelona wanted to sign the midfielder next season due to their financial difficulties. However, as the club needs to sign the replacement as soon as possible, the Blaugrana are going to revisit their interest in Neves during January. Sport has also reported that personal terms have been agreed upon between the club and the player. Neves could become a Barcelona player as early as January 2023.

Barcelona started the game with a draw

Barcelona started the first game of their season with a draw against Rayo Vallecano. The Catalans completely dominated the game but they were unlucky to end up with a draw. The Catalans had 21 shots as opposed to 4 shots for Rayo. The Blaugrana also maintained 68% of the possession in the game. Moreover, the game also ended in a disaster as Sergio Busquets was shown a red card in the 96th minute. Barcelona will face Real Sociedad for the second match of their season.
