Manchester United have history with Barcelona when it comes to transfer saga. Last time when Manchester United appointed Erik Ten Hag they went all out to sign Frenkie De Jong. De Jong has worked with Ten Hag before where he had his breakout season for Ajax. However he decided to reject their offer and stay at Camp Nou. This time Manchester United are among the clubs in the picture to sign Barcelona youngster Vitor Roque in the summer window.
The Brazilian striker made a l move to the Catalan side from Athletico Paranaense. He came for a reported fee of €30 million. However he struggled to find game in Xavi’s squad which has been an issue since his arrival. There are also reports of him being out on loan this summer. After his move, the Brazilian made it directly into Xavi’s squad as a regular substitute. He also scored two goals in his first four matches for the club. However game time has been hard to come by in recent weeks and the forward has not played in any of Barca’s last six game. His lack of game time has also triggered his agent Andre Cury who has slammed the club’s treatment of the youngster.
Interests from Manchester United for the Barcelona youngster
Manchester United, Napoli, OGC Nice and Lyon are interested and Mundo say these clubs have contacted the Brazilian’s agent to find out his situation. The four teams have now joined Real Betis and Sevilla in the transfer chase.
Recent claims have talked about sending Roque to Atlético Madrid as part of the deal to buy João Félix. However neither Barca nor the player have any information on this.
Xavi who has developed many youngsters this season is expected to solve this problem. Moreover with Lewandowski getting old they will need a striker alternative.
