Bayern Munich have their third bid for Laimer rejected

Bayern Munich have had their final bid for Konrad Laimer rejected by Leipzig. Bayern Munich are desperately trying to sign Laimer but Leipzig are adamant about their stance. Leipzig wants to avoid selling another player after losing Upmecano and Sabitzer in the transfer window. The final bid worth €24m was rejected by Leipzig.

Depth in the central midfield position is imperative for Bayern this season. World Cup in November means that there will be a tightly packed schedule. Bayern can use the extra depth that having a player such as Laimer will bring to the team. However, a bid for the player was rejected by Leipzig as they consider him to be an integral part of the team. Bild as reported by iMiaSanMia has reported the situation in detail as follows:

RB Leipzig have rejected a last offer from Bayern for Konrad Laimer. €20m guaranteed plus €4m add-ons (€2m for winning the league and €2m for winning the CL). Laimer will have to stay in Leipzig this season and could move to Munich on a free next year

Laimer has already agreed personal term with Bayern Munich

The Leipzig midfielder has already agreed on personal terms with Bayern Munich. Bayern have has three of their bids rejected so far. So, it is likely that a move could materialize in the next transfer window. Bayern considers Laimer as a long-term replacement for midfielder Joshua Kimmich. Also, Laimer has worked previously with coach Julian Nagelsmann. Laimer, according to the coach, is a ‘pressing machine”.

Laimer has a €35 million release clause which expired on June 30th. Bayern Munich had also expressed their desire to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong. However, that move will not be materializing this late to the transfer window.
