Bayern Munich set their sights on Timo Werner

Bayern Munich are known to be plotting a move for Timo Werner of Chelsea next summer. Bayern are looking to reunite their manager Julian Nagelsmann with the German international.

The 25-year-old forward has struggled to find the net at his current Premier League club. He is reportedly in contact with former RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann.

Werner and Nagelsmann enjoyed a stellar relationship during their time together. The young coach was at the helm during the most prolific period of the German striker’s career. Now, reports in Germany suggest that the pair could reunite.

Bayern could refresh Werner

Timo Werner was a regular for the Blues during the 2020-21 campaign. In 52 appearances, he registered 12 goals and 15 assists. However, he struggled for form during stages of the season.

With the return of Romelu Lukaku to Stamford Bridge, it is likely Werner will see his minutes managed going through the middle. The arrival of the big Belgian sees him moved down the pecking order.

On the flip side, he has been a completely different man for Germany. He has convincingly found the back of the net each of Germany’s three World Cup Qualifiers.

The 25-year-old is seeing major improvement in form at international level under fellow German boss Hansi Flick.

Nagelsmann is still in regular contact with his former star. His name has been raised among the Allianz Arena hierarchy as a potential Robert Lewandowski replacement. The Poland international might head for the exit after he told the club he is seeking a new challenge.

Timo Werner has made just two Premier League appearances for the Blues this season. He was on the bench against Liverpool before the international break, but did not make an appearance.
