Plan of BCCI in Asia Cup 2023
Asia Cup 2023 is most likely to be moved out of Pakistan as BCCI will not get clearance from the government to travel to Pakistan. Asian Cricket Council meeting will take place in Bahrain. This meeting will decide the venue for the Asia Cup 2023. However, the most likely be UAE or Sri Lanka but still, the hosts will be Pakistan.
About the ACC meeting, a BCCI source told PTI:
“Jay is in Bahrain for the ACC meeting. The BCCI’s stand will not change. We will not be travelling to Pakistan as we haven’t got any go-ahead from the government”
The former Chairman of PCB threatened to pull Pakistan from the world cup 2023 scheduled in India. But the BCCI is strong and confident in their decision. According to a report by ANI, PCB is thinking of not traveling to India for World Cup 2023 if the Asia cup’s venue is changed.
Due to this, the Asia Cup 2023 will be held in the United Arab Emirates or Sri Lanka. It is so unfortunate for the passionate cricket fans in Pakistan who were waiting to see the epic rivalries in their home. Sri Lanka are the defending champions of the Asia Cup. however, the format is changed so it won’t be that easy for Sri Lankans to defend the title.
Even though, Pakistan at least had some points to argue and try to host the tournament. But the recent bomb blast in Peshawar killed more than 100 people. Just left Pakistan Cricket Board with no other options to talk about hosting the event. Pakistan also have the hosting rights of the Champions Trophy 2025.
