Ben Stokes likens himself to John Terry after the IPL final

tennis player

England all-rounder, Ben Stokes has recently taken a funny dig at himself after winning the IPL trophy with the Chennai Super Kings.

This year, Ben Stokes played only 2 matches for the franchise and didn’t pick up any wickets. Moreover, he remained plagued with injuries.

While he was one of the big names in the CSK squad for the season after being purchased for INR 16.25 crores, Stokes didn’t live up to his price tag.

Therefore, while talking about his overall experience in the IPL this year, Stokes said that he felt like John Terry, the football legend.

During the UEFA Champions League 2012 final, Terry lifted the trophy in jersey.

I played a little bit of a John Terry role in winning the IPL.

Furthermore, even after recovering from his injuries, Stokes remained on the bench and CSK went on to win their 5th IPL title.

However, he has been deemed fit to play in the one-off Test against Ireland and then for the Ashes series starting on the 16th of June.

Stokes says he wants to do limited bowling in Tests

Meanwhile, Stokes has also stated that he now wants to bowl very limited overs in Test cricket as his body is not allowing him to do more.

Additionally, he has also said that he took some advice from veteran pacer, James Anderson on how he could do so.

Before I didn’t have to worry about that, I could just bowl and bowl and bowl and turn up pretty fresh. Now I’m probably not able to do that, so in between games is probably the most important bit of managing anything correctly.

Adding further, he said,

The thing about me is that I don’t need much bowling for the rest of my body to tick over. I can have quite a lot of time off and then build up quite quickly. It’s not doom and gloom if I do or don’t bowl in this game.
