Manchester United were interested in signing Benjamin Sesko. However the 21 year old striker turned down the possible move to the Old Trafford. Sesko has now linked with Arsenal and the Slovenian international finally can be seen making his mark in Premier League.
Benjamin Sesko recently turned 21 years old after his very good season with RB Leipzig. The Slovenian international scored 18 goals for the German side across all competitions this season. Along with Club Sesko has been very important player for the country and has made 28 international appearances till now. His young age and amazing performances have caught eyes of some of the biggest clubs in the Europe. The 21 year striker could be soon seen with a move to England.
Manchester United finished the season with defeating Manchester City in the FA Cup final. Despite winning the silverware, United have not had an ideal premier league season. The Red Devils finished on 8th position. It was only after their FA cup victory that they were guaranteed a place in Europa league. Due to inconsistency in scoring goals, the red devils will be hoping to sign some top talents this transfer window.
United to focus on attacking players
Manchester United faced a huge problem of scoring goals throughout the season. The Club ended the season with a -1 goal difference. United signed Rasmus Hojlund last year from Atlanta as a potential replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo. However the Danish international was only able to score 10 goals in 30 appearances he made in Premier League which was far less than what Ronaldo achieved last season. Anthony Martial is also set to leave the club after 9 long years. United trying to fill the void were interested in signing Benjamin Sesko.
United were interested to make Sesko their new star. However according to The Mirror, Sesko prefers a move to Arsenal over Red Devils. Along with United and Arsenal, Chelsea and some other Italian clubs are also interested in Slovenian striker.
Why Sesko is uninterested in United
Benjamin Sesko has admitted that he felt it was better to join Leipzig over United. The Slovenian international continued that he felt to go to a place where they played a similar style of football. He thought about it this way as it is easy to adapt in a new environment if you already know your role. Sesko feeling Leipzig is a better fit scored 18 goals this season, same as he scored for Salzburg a year ago. The 21 year old can be finally seen in Premier League soon with Arsenal as his preferred destination. Another reason why Sesko prefers Gunners over Red Devils is due to the chance of playing in UEFA Champions League.
Arsenal monitoring Sesko
Arsenal are desperately in need of a striker. Despite having a great goal-scoring season, the Gunners faced a huge problem from their strikers. Both Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah failed to stay consistent and only managed to score 9 goals combined in the League. They both have lost their position as a regular starter and Nketiah may be seen moving away from Emirates. Kai Havertz has been Arteta’s first choice striker with some new incomings expected soon.
Arsenal hoping to finally win the Premier League are currently linked with Sesko. Sesko has current market value around £45 million. Leipzig are willing to sell Sesko for around £64 million. The Gunners however are also linked to other high quality strikers. Mikel Arteta is however reported to be interested in Slovenian striker and thinks he could be a good fit for the club.
Oleksandr Zinchenko is set to bid his farewell to Emirates after two his two years spell. The Ukranian has been reported to join his former teammate Vincent Kompany at Bayern Munich. Hence Arsenal are guaranteed to have a busy window where they need to fill various positions.
