Blackburn Rover’s Brereton Diaz in high demand

Blackburn’s Brereton Diaz is in high demand and attracting attention in England and Europe. He is rapidly becoming the most sought-after player in the division. He has been heavily linked with a move away from the Championship club.

According to The Express, West Ham United are interested in signing Diaz from Blackburn Rovers. David Moyes wants to take some load off, Antonio. Moyes has prioritized signing a striker with Diaz leading the list.

The Rovers have set a price tag of around £28.5 million for the Chilean striker (claimed by Claret and Hugh). Diaz’s valuation has put off some of the potential buyers including West Ham United. Some of the club’s supporters are unsure if a player with no Premier League experience is worth the price.

Numerous clubs in this window including Leeds United, Sevilla, and Brighton have also been linked with Brereton Diaz. La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are also keeping an eye on the 22-year-old striker’s development.

Diaz is a striker with huge potential and is still quite young. The striker has netted 20 times for Blackburn Rovers in 27 appearances this season. He is the second top scorer in the league behind only Mitrovic. His performance also got him a national call-up from Chile. He has scored 3 goals for Chile in 9 caps.

What next for Brereton Diaz?

The youngster sure has a lot of options on the table right now. But with only over a week remaining in the January transfer window, a move for Diaz seems unlikely. To add to that, Blackburn Rovers will do everything in their power to hold on to the player for as long as possible.

Blackburn are in the running for a Premier League promotion. They are currently 3rd on the table and equal on points with Bournemouth who are 2nd. Losing their top scorer in mid-season will deal a huge blow to their promotion aspirations. As a result, Blackburn will want the striker to stay at least till the end of the season and help them secure a promotion.

Diaz has only 6 months left on his current contract but Blackburn have the option to extend the deal for another 12 months. This will keep him at the club till the summer of 2023.

His price tag has also put off some of the potential buyers, with Sevilla now willing to wait till summer to pursue the striker. All things considered, there is little to have no chance of the Chilean moving this month. He is likely to finish the season with Blackburn Rovers and maybe look for a move in the summer.
