According to reports, Manchester United has little hope of bringing in Brian Brobbey during the summer transfer window.

The 20-year-old spent the second half of the 2021–22 season on loan at Ajax under current Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag. He was a huge fan of the youngster, and there have been rumours that he is in favour of signing the striker.

The youngster’s parent club, RB Leipzig, is eager to move him on. But according to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United believe that Ajax will win the race to recruit him.

Brobbey made an impact for the Dutch powerhouses in the second part of the previous season. He scored seven goals in 13 games across all competitions. Ten Hag supposedly spoke with the forward to negotiate a potential transfer to Manchester United. But it is thought that an agreement to bring him to Ajax is almost done. He will join fellow attacker Steven Bergjwin as the new signing at the Johann Cruyff Arena.

Brian Brobbey has made 13 appearances for Leipzig across all competitions. However, the youngster is yet to score.  It is believed that his asking price might be as low as €15 million.

Who Is Brian Brobbey?

The Dutchman joined Ajax in 2010 and advanced through the club’s development programme before making his professional debut in October 2020. Before joining Leipzig, he scored six goals in 19 appearances for Ajax during the 2020–21 season.

Manchester United are in pursuit of fellow Ajax attacker Antony. They need to bolster their attack after the departure of Edinson Cavani and potentially Cristiano Ronaldo as well. However, the Brazilian has a steep asking price which has led them to look for alternatives. Brobbey was potentially one of them, but it does not look like he is coming to Old Trafford.
