Ten Hag pushing for Antony move to Old Trafford

Ten Hag wants Antony to join him at Old Trafford according to Fabrizio Romano.

Erik ten Hag is preparing for his first season at the helm after being appointed as United’s new boss. The Dutchman is looking eager to make an impact this summer. To help him with this, he is pushing for a reunion with striker Antony. As stated by a report from MailOnline, Ten Hag remains interested in sealing a reunion with Antony at Manchester United.

However, the upper management at United feels that it will be difficult to strike a deal for the strike. Ajax have put a £70million price tag on the player. The United hierarchy thinks that this is too expensive of a valuation for the striker. Manchester United officials traveled to Amsterdam last month as they attempted to strike a deal with Ajax. However, it appears those efforts were unsuccessful.

Multiple reports have revealed that Antony is frustrated by Ajax’s financial demands. United in Focus has revealed the attacker sees his valuation as ‘disproportionate’. This is clearly an attempt by Ajax to price him out of a move to another club. Several clubs, including Manchester United, have expressed an interest in the striker. Chelsea has also held talks with the 22-year-old’s representatives for a possible move to Stamford Bridge.

Ten Hag’s pursuit of Antony is justified.

Ten Hag has described the Brazilian as ‘an incredible talent’ who is ‘going through an incredibly beautiful development’. Most of this development is due to Ten Hag himself. Antony got selected 79 times during ten Hag’s Ajax reign. He registered 22 goals and 20 assists for the club under the Dutchman. He recorded an average match rating of 7.47 last season. This emphasizes his consistency with his team.

Manchester United have already signed Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia for a fee of  £12.9m. With this signing, Malacia is the first signing of United under Ten Hag.
