Manchester United are supposedly looking to offer Bruno Fernandes a new contract.

Fernandes’s existing deal with the Reds is not due to expire until the end of the 2024-25 season, and they are not looking to let go of him anytime soon. United reportedly want to reward the Portuguese’s performances with a massive new contract.

As per reports, Fernandes could be offered a new £300k-a-week deal at Old Trafford. This would make him one of highest earners at the club alongside Paul Pogba and David De Gea.

This would certainly be positive news for United fans, who would be hoping that Fernandes can play a pivotal role in bringing some silverware to the club this season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Fernandes’ contract extension has been a top priority for Manchester United since last July and talks have been ongoing over a new deal.

Romano also reports that United are trying to extend the contract of Paul Pogba as well. The situation with Pogba is a bit tricky though. The French midfielder is into the final year of his contract and there are talks over a new deal with agent Mino Raiola. However, there is no agreement yet.

Manchester United to gain in the long-term from Fernandes extension?

Fernandes has been a talismanic figure since he arrived at Manchester United in 2020. The Portuguese playmaker has scored 43 goals and provided 25 assists in 83 appearances for the club in all competitions.

The attacking midfielder helped United to a 2nd place finish in the Premier League last season, and to the Europa League final, which they eventually lost to Villarreal on penalties.

The 27-year-old has already begun the 2021/22 season with a bang. He has three goals to his name, courtesy of an opening day hat-trick in a 5-1 thrashing of Leeds United.
