Chelsea recently advances to the Carabao Cup semi final after beating Newcastle United. Is there a chance for Chelsea to secure European football by winning the Carabao? Lets have a look. After beating Newcastle 4-2 on penalties, Chelsea are nearing to their first silverware of the season. Following the game, even Pochettino highlighted the importance of the game for his boys. He said,
“I think these type of games are important, the way we can achieve the way to go through to the semi-final. Always it is so important. Like it is important when you don’t play well, games like Everton and Newcastle away from home, to realise in which area we need to improve.
Both are really important and to really feel for this group, in the way we want to evolve and develop the ideas. So pleased because I think when you see the whole squad, players that weren’t involved in the game, players that were injured but they wanted to share the happiness in the middle of the pitch.“
How Chelsea can qualify for Europe after winning Carabao Cup?
The team that wins the Carabao automatically qualifies for the Europa Conference League. However, they can still manage to qualify if they are unable to win it. Looking at the teams left, Liverpool are the favourites to lift the Cup. Though if they win the Cup and secure Champions League spot by top4, the place will be given to the highest non-qualifying team. It mans a seventh spot finish for Chelsea will be ambitious for them. It will automatically lead them a spot in the Conference League next season. Though, fans will love if their club place the hands on the trophy and secure a direct spot in the competition.
