Cardiff City sign Jack Simpson form Rangers

Jack Simpson has signed a two-year contract with Cardiff City. Simpson becomes the seventeenth signing of Cardiff City in the transfer window. Jack Simpson played for Scottish Premiership side Rangers before joining Cardiff on an undisclosed fee. The Bluebirds will be hoping that Simpson’s experience will help them turn things around in the championship. Cardiff currently sits eleven in the Championship with two wins, two losses, and a draw in their hands.

Jack Simpson has made 35 appearances for Bournemouth including 11 Premier League appearances. After that he moved on to join the then Europa League Runners up, Rangers in January 2021. Speaking to the Cardiff official website, Simpson expressed his delight in joining the club. He said:

“I’m very excited to join the club. I spoke to the manager about what he’s trying to do here. I’m a ball-playing centre-half, and hopefully that’ll suit the way the team are playing now. I’m excited to be here. I want to help the team and play in as many games as possible.”

Cardiff City’s woes in the defense.

Cardiff City are still trying to get their preferred combinations correct to make a dent at the Championship. However, nothing solid has emerged as of yet. The pairing of Perry Ng and Cedric Kipre seemed to work well against Norwich City. But an infraction during the Norwich game saw Ng getting a two-match ban. Curtis Nelson, who was Ng’s replacement has succumbed to the pressure of the championship and is making a lot of mistakes.

Ollie Denham looks good with the ball on his feet. However, given the physical nature of the championship, is set to be a major challenge for him. Now, the question has to be asked, Where does Jack Simpson fit at Cardiff? The manager saw a place for him at Cardiff, but critics are quite skeptical of the move. Simpson has not played any pre-season and he will struggle in the championship. Cardiff coaching squad is trying their best to get Jack up to desired fitness level. However, only time will tell if the player was a good signing or not.
